Amnesty Day is this Saturday, April 15.
Stephens County Commission chairman Dennis Bell on Tuesday reminded the community of the upcoming event.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., county residents can bring their household junk to the public works department at 1597 Scenic Drive for free disposal.
The county will have staff on volunteers on hand to assist with the disposal.
Bell reminded the public of Amnesty Day during the board’s April 11 meeting.
Also at the meeting, the board approved a contract agreement to provide the county’s Independence Day fireworks show.
The agreement was with Pyro Shows East Coast Inc. in the amount of $6,800.
County administrator Christian Hamilton said the county fireworks show is scheduled for Friday, June 30.
In other business, commissioners also approved :
• Renewing leases at 150 West Tugalo St. where drug court is held and renewing a sublease in the building for probation services.
• A reimbursement of $21,847 to the Stephens County Development Authority for the deceleration lane at Chick-fil-A.
• A payment of $51,581 to Core & Main for a fire hydrant at New Hope training center.
• A payment of $145,224 to Akins Ford Dodge for sheriff’s office vehicles.
• A payment of $23,100 to Pro•Vision for body-camera maintenance.
• A payment of $6,366 to Henry T. Hayes Company to install new lighting at the road department.
