For the second consecutive year the Stephens County Lady Indian volleyball team is back in the state playoffs.
The Lady Indians clinched the playoffs when they won their Region 8-AAA play-in game against Franklin County here last Thursday.
That victory assured SCHS a playoff berth as well as a spot in the Region 8-AAA tournament.
The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Lions 3-1 in the playoff clinching match. In that match, SCHS won the first two sets 25-17 against Franklin County.
The Lady Lions rallied in the third set to threaten the playoff hopes of Stephens County.
Franklin triumphed 25-21 in the third set.
However, the Indians secured their spot in the playoffs when they won the fourth set 25-18.
After Thursday’s match SCHS was invited into the region tournament where they dropped two matches.
In their first match, the Lady Indians dropped a match to Oconee County and their second match to Hart County.
Those two matches resulted in the Lady Indians going into the playoffs as a No. 4 seed.
The Lady Indians were scheduled to face No. 1 seed LaFayette on the road in the first round. They were eliminated by LaFayette in straight sets.
