Football faces Gilmer on Friday night

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the Stephens County football Indians will either forget a summer filled with weightlifting, conditioning, passing competitions, super heated practices and numerous other sacrifices or they will build on that foundation built by shared hardships.

Softball goes on a winning streak

 The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team won all four games played last week to run its record to  5-1 for the season.   The Lady Indians edged Banks County 6-4 behind the clutch hitting of Emma Kate Powell on Aug.

Indians volleyball has 1-9 record this season

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    The Stephens County High School volleyball team didn’t win a match in seven recent outings as their record dropped to 1-9 for the season.   The Lady Indians lost to Union County, Rabun County, Genesis Academy, Chestatee, Fannin County and Barrow Academy in recent days.

Softball kicks off season with win against Habersham

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    The Stephens County Lady Indians struck for two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 3-2 extra inning victory over Habersham Central there Monday evening to start the 2026 softball season 1-0.

Military Museum recognizes D-Day with golf tournament

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Saturday, June 6 was the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings in France during World War II and was celebrated by thousands of people in the official international ceremony located on what was Sword Beach in 1944.

Summer football practices kick off

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   The sounds ringing from the Stephens County High School football stadium last Thursday morning were unmistakable and so very familiar.   Coaches barking instructions to players as they went through a variety of drills.
Toccoa Rookie League all-stars and their coaches celebrated the District 7 championship in Hartwell Monday night. Team members are (not in order) Kingston Schultz, Chase Hickman, Huck Thomas, Easton Koppin, Rex Youngblood, Grayson Turk, William Stein, Elijah Newkirk, Cohen Gastley, Jasper Ebadolahi, Emerson Edge and Cooper Teater. In the back are Toccoa Little League president Doug McCollum and all-star coaches Michael Koppin, Luke Youngblood, Kaleb Turk and Zac Stein.

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   The Toccoa Rookie League all-stars, District 7 champions, were scheduled to open play in the sectional tournament yesterday (Wednesday) in Martinez-Evans just outside of Augusta.

Toccoa Little League all-stars open play

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Four Toccoa Little League all-star teams open District 7 play this week.   The Coach Pitch baseball all-stars will begin play Friday, May 29 in Elbert County while the Coach Pitch softball all-stars also begin district play on Friday in Elberton.
