The Stephens County History Museum and the Currahee Military Museum will host the annual Experience Toccoa Day on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission.
“There are at least two times a year we encourage our community to visit the museum without paying admission, this Saturday is the first one of this year,” said museums director Brenda Carlan said.
“The museums board of directors encourages the residents to visit so they will know of the history of this area , or they may know it but have forgotten. The board hopes parents will bring their children or grandchildren to learn how the area may have looked dating back to the late 1700’s,” Carlan said.
In addition to the museums in downtown, directors said they hope residents will also visit some of the other attractions in the county such as Toccoa Falls on the campus of TFC, Travelers Rest Historic Site on Riverdale Road, Tugaloo Bend Hertiage Site located at 2401 Yonah Dam Road.
Camp Toccoa at Currahee will be closed this Saturday due to a prior arrangement.
The museums downtown have been recognized and awarded several accolades since opening downtown in October 2005.
