Kane Pruitt, a recent graduate of Stephens County High School (SCHS), is among four graduating seniors statewide selected to receive a $1,500 Georgia Foundation for Agriculture Technical College Scholarship.
The scholarships recognize deserving and outstanding high school graduates who plan to pursue a degree in agriculture or an ag-related degree at a college or technical college in the University System of Georgia, Berry College or Emmanuel College.
“The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) is committed to investing in the future of Georgia agriculture by offering these scholarships to students who want to pursue a career in agriculture. The foundation is happy to offer scholarships this year to students who plan to become ag teachers, welders, veterinarians, ag mechanics, ag engineers, ag business employees and ag lawyers,” said GFA board chairman and Georgia Farm Bureau president Tom McCall.
“Georgia Farm Bureau is proud to support the foundation’s efforts,” McCall said.
The son of Adam Pruitt, of Toccoa, Kane plans to attend North Georgia Technical College in the fall to study welding.
Kane was an active member of the FFA chapter at SCHS the past four years.
He earned his FFA Greenhand Degree, Chapter Degree, Discovery Degree, State Degree and is working toward his FFA American Degree.
He served as sentinel of the FFA Chapter his sophomore year, was chaplain his junior year and served as chapter president his senior year.
Kane credits FFA with developing his leadership and public speaking skills.
The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture scholarships recognize deserving and outstanding students pursuing an agriculture or ag-related degree at an eligible technical college (such as welding, diesel mechanics, vet tech) or college in the University System of Georgia, Berry College or Emmanuel College.
Instructions for applying for the 2022 GFA scholarships will be announced at www.gafoundationag.org/scholarships in January 2022.
