Stephens County sheriff Randy Shirley this week reported the arrest of a 61-year-old man on charges related to the distribution of illegal drugs.
Shirley said the case started when investigators received multiple tips of possible drug activity at a residence on Highway 123.
Shirley said the sheriff’s criminal investigations division commander Josh Goodbar reported that investigators visited the residence on June 1 to speak with the resident.
"During initial contact with the homeowner, a subsequent search of the property was completed due to (the suspect's) bond conditions," Shirley said.
Shirley said that Goodbar reported that about an ounce of methamphetamine was discovered, along with packaging materials typically used in the sale of the drug.
The resident, Roger Gary Jackson, 61, of Toccoa, was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
"Jackson is being held at Stephens County Jail awaiting a bond hearing," Shirley said.
