Anyone interested in a career in law enforcement can attend a local job fair later this month.
It's the first time the Stephens County Sheriff's Office has held such a fair for potential job candidates to receive information related to the field.
Stephens chief deputy Andy Myers encouraged interested applicants to attend the fair which will be held at the sheriff's office training field on Saturday, April 10.
"This will give a chance for anyone interested in the field to sit down with each division (in the sheriff’s office)," Myers said.
While the sheriff's office needs to add to its work force, Myers said law enforcement agencies across the nation face similar difficulties finding staff.
Myers said the sheriff's office has generally found employees through word of mouth and colleges.
He said said the job fair is a new avenue the sheriff's office is exploring.
"We will see if it's something that works," Myers said.
He said the sheriff's office is seeking qualified employees in all departments.
"We are looking to hire for both the jail and the sheriff's office side," Myers said.
The training center is located at 1677 Scenic Drive with the job fair starting at 10 a.m.
"We will have signs up to provide direction," Myers said.
Myers said light finger-foods would be served and the sheriff's office simulator should be up and running.
"It will give us a lot of opportunity to interact with people who are considering this line of work," Myers said.
