Gail Watson of Toccoa is the featured artist for the month of November in the Studio located on Doyle Street in downtown.
Watson launched her career as an artist by taking classes from Dianne Mize in Clarkesville.
She then began taking monthly workshops to advance her watercolor skills by learning many techniques from accomplished artists in the Atlanta area.
Her passion is painting nature using rich colors and combining the many techniques she has learned.
Her favorite subjects are birds, wildlife, flowers, horses, and scenes from her travels. She uses her own photographs as a reference for her paintings, sometimes using multiple photographs for a pleasing composition.
Watson continues to take watercolor workshops to assure her paintings will be exciting and on the cutting edge of watercolor artistry.
She is the current president of the Currahee Artist’s Guild, a signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and a board member for six years, the Southern Watercolor Society, which covers 18 southern states, the Tallahassee Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Alabama and the South Carolina Watermedia Society.
She is a juried member of Watercolor West, an international society. She is also a member of North Georgia Artist’s Guild, the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, the Chestatee Artist Group, Bowen Center for the Arts and the Sautee Nacoochee Art Center.
She has taught many workshops in Georgia and her work has been accepted into numerous juried shows in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and California.
Her art can be found at the Hemlock Gallery in Clarkesville, Sautee Nacoochee Art Center, and The Studio in Toccoa.
