The Stephens County Indian baseball team stretched its current winning streak to five games Friday with a 6-0 conquest of East Hall here Friday.
The game played on Friday was a substitute game played in place of a rainout with Johnson of Gainesville earlier in the week.
Johnson was not able to reschedule so SCHS was able to schedule another Hall County team for Friday’s contest.
The winning pitcher for the Indians was Grant Babbitt who hurled five innings in the victory.
Babbitt recorded seven strikeouts in the win and allowed only two hits and a walk in five innings of work.
Senior Indian pitcher and Emmanuel College commit Ayden Garmon pitched in relief for SCHS.
Garmon’s relief pitching performance helped keep the Vikings off the board.
In the top of the sixth inning, Garmon was faced with a situation where East Hall had runners on second and third base with no outs.
That’s when Garmon delivered three consecutive strikeouts to get SCHS out of the top of the sixth inning.
In the seventh, Garmon recorded two more strikeouts to close out the game along with allowing no runners on base
Garmon finished the game with five strikeouts.
Craig Thurmond and Carson Worley powered the Indian offense as each connected on two hits for the Indians.
Indian Seth McCollum connected on one hit in two trips to the plate against East Hall
SCHS is back in action on Friday, March 18, when they face Region 8-AAA foe Franklin County at 5:30 p.m. in a doubleheader in Carnesville.
