The Stephens County track and field team is sending five members to the state championships this weekend in Carrollton. The five Indian members that are state bound include Cam Lacy, Bobby Fessler, Aiden Butts, Corey Richie and Braden Griffin. The tribal five qualified for the state championship meet during the sectionals meet held at East Jackson last Saturday in Commerce. Those five Indians posted a top eight finish to be state bound. Lacy qualified in long jump and in the 100-meter dash. Lacy placed third in long jump with a jump of 22 feet and 2 inches. Lacy had a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a with a time of 11.12 seconds in the meet. Fessler placed fourth in the 3200 with a time of 10:56 minutes and placed sixth in the 1600 with a time of 4:54.54 in the meet. Butts qualified for the state championships with a sixth-place finish in shot put with a throw of 46 feet and 11.5 inches. Riche had a jump of 41ft and six inches for a sixth-place finish in the triple jump. Griffin qualified in the 400 posting a time of 51.76 for a sixth-place finish.
