County drives forward on roads priorities

BY J. TODD TRUELOVETHE TOCCOA RECORD    Stephens County commissioners last month approved and released roadwork priorities for 2026.   There are a total of 22 projects listed for improvements, falling in two groups.

Lawmakers tackling chronic absenteeism

BY TY TAGAMI AND MICHAEL O’HEARNTHE TOCCOA RECORD State lawmakers are looking into ways to curb chronic absenteeism in schools across the state, while a Stephens County organization has implemented a program to incentivize students to attend classes every day.
A group of 70 runners laced up their shoes and braved the cold on the morning of Friday, Nov. 28, to participate in a 5K, 10K, and Fun Run at Paul Anderson Memorial Park. This event replaced the traditional Christmas in the Park celebration held there.

Eastanollee man dies after wreck

BY MICHAEL O’HEARNTHE TOCCOA RECORD A 73-year-old Eastanollee man has died following a vehicle accident on Wednesday, Nov. 26.The multi-vehicle accident occurred in the area of Big A and Oak Valley Roads shortly after 8 p.m. that evening, Stephens County Deputy Coroner Lee Woody said.
