TFC gains reaffirmation of accreditation

    The Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) on June 13 voted to reaffirm the accreditation of Toccoa Falls College for the next 10 years.

    Stephens County commissioner Michelle Ivester on Tuesday praised the work on installation of a kayak/canoe launch dock with concrete steps and railing at Yonah Dam Park.

Body found in house fire

    Toccoa police officers were on their way to assist with a property retrieval last week that changed to a fire response.     Police chief Jimmy Mize said that on Thursday, Aug. 8, officers were responded to a residence on East Currahee Street.

    Kaylynn Crump of Martin, a sophomore at Franklin County High School and daughter of Chad and Kristy Crump, recently returned from representing the United States at the International Cup in France.

Schools hall of fame seeking nominations

    The Toccoa-Stephens County Schools Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for the Class of 2019.     The hall was established to recognize outstanding graduates and former educators of the Toccoa and Stephens County school systems.

Museum to unveil Oak Hill exhibit

 The Stephens County Historical Society will dedicate a new exhibit in the Stephens County History Museum.     The exhibit will feature the Oak Hill Elementary School and its faculty.

Wilkinson appointed study commission chair

    State Sen. John Wilkinson (R – Toccoa) was recently appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to chair the Senate Study Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and Landscape Workforce Access.
