McIntosh to judge art show

    Erin McIntosh, assistant professor of studio art at the University of North Georgia, will judge the Currahee Artists’ Guild art show held in conjunction with the Toccoa  Harvest Festival later this month.

Watson to share life story

    Author and speaker Thomas Leon Watson, a former resident of Toccoa, will share his life story during a talk at the Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m.     The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Mountain Judicial Circuit receives Task Force award

    The Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) presented its Task Force of the Year Award to the Mountain Judicial Circuit Family Violence Task Force at the 25th Annual Family Violence Conference.     The curcuit’s task force encompasses, Stephens, Habersham and Rabun counties.

Stephens County students cast in Cabaret

    Three Stephens students are cast members in the the Piedmont College Theatre’s production of Cabaret.     They are Shelby Woodward of Martin, Jessica Eves of Toccoa and Donald Stoltz of Eastanollee.     The musical will be staged Thursday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 6.

Military Weekend is Oct. 3-6

    Books, simulated barrages and the Big Band sound will invade Toccoa this weekend.     The 19th Currahee Military Weekend kicks off today (Thursday, Oct. 3) and will continue through Sunday morning Oct. 6.

    A meet the candidate event for city commission candidate Inger Neal will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 from 1-3 p.m. at the Star Theater located at 148 E. Doyle St.          The public is invited to attend and share their thoughts with the candidate.

Book signing on Oct. 4

    The Stephens County Historical Society will host its annual book signing on Friday, Oct. 4, from 1-4 p.m.     Several authors with an array of stories about World War II and other wars will be in Toccoa for the event.
