Ernest receives annual trailblazer award

    Stephens County Probate Court Judge Glenda Ernest entered the room surprised.      Friends, family, and co-workers had come together on Monday, March 11, to honor Ernest with the annual Susan Clark Campbell Trailerblazer Award.

Local students named Habersham EMC delegates

     Everett Rudeseal of Toccoa and Chesney Tanksley of Clarkesville have been selected to attend the annual Washington Youth Tour, a once in a lifetime leadership experience made possible through the generosity of the electric membership cooperatives (EMCs) in Georgia, including Habersham EMC.

O'Hearn joins Record as editor, succeeding Law

     Michael O’Hearn has been named editor and publisher of The Toccoa Record.     He succeeds long-time The Record editor and publisher Tom Law who is retiring after a 47-year career in community journalism.

TFC completes part of renovation project

     Toccoa Falls College has completed Phase One of the Forrest Hall renovation project.      Forrest Hall is the primary men’s residence hall at TFC, and students look forward to enjoying the new C-wing beginning next semester.

Commissioners receive certification

    County commissioners Tara Simmons and Chuck Wright have completed all of the necessary training requirements to be recognized as Certified County Commissioners.      Simmons is serving as chair of the commission in 2024.

School system recognizes SCHS senior Jordynne Randall.

     The Work-based Learning student of the month for January is Jordynne Randall.     Randall is currently a senior at Stephens County High School and works as a part-time retail associate at CK Morgan and Company in Toccoa.

      The 17th annual women's event All About Grace will  be held on Saturday, March 9 in the Cheek Hall of Toccoa First Methodist Church.      This year's speaker will be Jelly Valimont, widow of  former pastor of Encounter church, Dr Randy Valimont.
