TFC pianist to performance in Cleveland this weekend

    Pianist You Ju Lee will present a one-hour concert Sunday, Sept. 17, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cleveland beginning at 2 p.m.      The church is located at 4114 Highway 115 East.      An offering will be received with proceeds going to the Toccoa Falls College Music Department piano fund.

Toccoa Salvation Army volunteers help with hurricane relief

BY TOM LAW THE TOCCOA RECORD      Three volunteers from the Toccoa Service Center  of the Salvation Army have deployed to assist with feeding people affected by Hurricane Idalia in Florida and southern Georgia.

    Georgia Department of Natural Resources game warden T.R. Dooley, a resident of Stephens County, has been awarded the 2023 Georgia Torch Award.

     Renowned fiddler and storyteller Connor Civatte of Glasgow, Scotland, will perform  at Steadfast Family Farm on Sunday, Aug. 27.      The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.with donations proceeds going to support the ministry of the farm.      The farm is located at 556 N.

Carlisle appointed to Board of Corrections

       Stephens County elections supervisor Bruce Carlisle has been assigned a position to the state board of corrections.      The board’s 19 members are appointed by the governor, with state senate consent, and serve staggered five year terms.

     The Stephens County Development Authority recognized one outgoing board member and welcomed a new one at their July 19 meeting.     The board recognized outgoing member Savonda Turner and welcomed new member Lisa Lawson.

    A sip and stroll event with the theme Masquerade on Main will be held in downtown Toccoa on Friday, Aug. 4, from 5-8 p.m.

NGCU receives credit union accolades

     North Georgia Credit Union (NGCU) was recently honored by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates as the 2022 Credit Union of the Year for the state of Georgia in the category for up to $100 million in assets.
