By Michael Hall The Hartwell Sun     Opening a mission hospital in Haiti while operating out of Northeast Georgia was never going to be easy.

    Work on a new Toccoa police precinct at the intersection of Pond Street and Collins Road is on hold.     City Billy Morse said Tuesday the work had to be delayed due to situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in city crews fulfilling other duties.
Douglas DC-3's are often featured attractions at air shows and provide attendants with a sense of nostalgia and history. This one flew in and out of the Toccoa-Stephens County Airport last week as two pilots received training.

    It wasn't a UFO, but Stephens County residents may have seen an unusual flying object if they looked into the northeast Georgia skies last week.     That object, said Toccoa-Stephens County Airport manager Amber McCall, was a vintage Douglas DC-3 airplace.

Tea for Two on Zoom

The Georgia State Society Daughters of the American Revolution DAR conducted a virtual Tea for Two at Two on Zoom for chapters throughout Georgia.     Kathleen Townsend hosted members of the Toccoa DAR chapter at her home Saturday,  July 18.
The 2020 scholarship recipient is Trey Blackwell.

Library celebrates women's right to vote

    During the month of August, the Toccoa Stephens County Public Library will host a new exhibition from the National Archives.     Entitled Rightfully Hers, the exhibit commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.
