Vaterans Day observed at Camp Toccoa

    A Veterans Day observance was held Monday at Camp Toccoa at Currahee.     Presented by American Legion Post 104, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346, the Marine Corps League Currahee Mountain Detachment 1303, and American Veterans Post 600, the observance featured guest speaker James A. Guest.

Three graduate from economic training program

    The Georgia Academy for Economic Development announced this week the graduation of three Stephens County residents from the 2019 Region 2 Multi-Day Training Program.     They are Jason Scott, Mary Smith and Samantha Rickman.

    Tammie Arthur's Stop the Bullying campaign in Stephens County has grown since she started the organization a few years ago.     "It (Stop the Bullying) started a couple of years ago when I heard of a little boy (in Toccoa) dying because of bullying," said Arthur.

Stephens County High School has been relcassified

    Stephens County High School, a long-time resident of Region 8-AAA, will return to its roots in 2020 following reclassification by he Georgia High School Athletic Association (GHSA).     The GHSA released reclassification for 2020-2022 on Tuesday.

    The annual Christmas in the Park celebration will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, at Paul Anderson Memorial Park.     There will be a tree lighting ceremony with Gordon Telford pulling the switch. The lighting ceremony will start at 7 p.m.
