People’s First organization makes Christmas blankets

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Two months ago, members of People’s First of Stephens County decided the organization wanted to make Christmas a little warmer for elderly and ill residents of Stephens County.

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD If you were traveling in and around Stephens County Saturday and saw a bright yellow school bus escorted by a phalanx of Toccoa police cars with  lights flashing and sirens blasting, then you caught a glimpse of the 2025 Shop With A Cop Christmas program.
Santa Claus came to downtown Toccoa on Friday night as part of the city’s annual ChristmasFest. He and Mrs. Claus set up a photo opportunity for parents and their children on Doyle Street during the festival. Getting their picture made with Santa Claus are Taylor Sidders, Sagi Sol, Xiius Sol, and Adaeus Sol.

County drives forward on roads priorities

Lawmakers tackling chronic absenteeism

BY TY TAGAMI AND MICHAEL O’HEARNTHE TOCCOA RECORD State lawmakers are looking into ways to curb chronic absenteeism in schools across the state, while a Stephens County organization has implemented a program to incentivize students to attend classes every day.
A group of 70 runners laced up their shoes and braved the cold on the morning of Friday, Nov. 28, to participate in a 5K, 10K, and Fun Run at Paul Anderson Memorial Park. This event replaced the traditional Christmas in the Park celebration held there.

BY MICHAEL O’HEARNTHE TOCCOA RECORDWhile some people may have still been in food comas the morning after Thanksgiving, a group of runners laced up their shoes on Friday, Nov. 28, and participated in a set of three races at Paul Anderson Park.Those races included a 5K, 10K, and Fun Run.
