Currahee Artists’ Guild annul Fall Arts and Crafts Show winners

     The Currahee Artists’ Guild has announced winners of its annul Fall Arts and Crafts Show held in conjunction with the Toccoa Harvest Festival.      Winners were: oil/Acryli, Charlie Huneke, first; Jo Mitchell second; and Lula Lowry, third. Bentley Sabatini received honorable mention.

Harvest Festival returns to Toccoa

     The 44th annual Toccoa Harvest Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30-31 in downtown Toccoa.      The event will boast more than 125  vendors.      There will be local crafters as well as crafters from nearby communities in northeast Georgia and  middle and south Georgia.

Elton tribute band to play the Ritz

A tribute to Elton John, "Still Standing," will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at the historic Ritz Theater.  Proceeds will benefit the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter. Tickets can be obtained at the shelter on Scenic Drive, Toccoa, or through Eventbrite.com.

    Halloween costumes and masks have certainly changed over the past 50 years, but there’s been one constant  in the candy-laden celebration in Toccoa during that span.

    If law enforcement gives you break with a warning, you’d best stop doing whatever you were warned against.     That’s the message the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office put out in a recent release after the arrest of several individuals in the sale of vaping products.

Spooky stories on the river

    Get ready to hear some of the spookiest stories on the river.      The Tugaloo River Water Trail (TRWT) will sponsor a Spooky Story Paddle on Saturday, Oct.23 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Owl Swamp pull out on Toccoa Creek.
