Free Food Giveaway at Martin Baptist Church

Martin Baptist Church in partnership with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia distributes free food to all qualifying residents of the Martin area of Stephens and Franklin Counties on the first Tuesday of each month from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The date for this month is July 6, 2021.

Toccoa Symphony performance June 27

The Toccoa Symphony is ringing in the summer season with its annual Patriotic Pops Concert, taking place at Lake Toccoa on Sunday, June 27.     The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., but the gates will be open at 6 p.m. to set up your lawn chair or blanket.

Martin man arrested on drug charges

    A 63-year-old resident of Martin was arrested early Monday morning after deputies responded to a medical call on Pueblo Trail.     Sheriff Randy Shirley said that it was around 3 a.m. on June 13 deputies were dispatched to the Pueblo Trail address in reference to an unresponsive man.

Paddlers come from all over for Tugaloo River History Paddle

    The annual Tugaloo River History Paddle was held Saturday, June 12.         Forty paddlers left Walker Creek around 8:30 a.m.  and paddled down the river stopping at varous historical spots.     Local historian, Kelly Vickers, led the group, which is sponsored by the Tugaloo River Water Trail.

Gingrich joins TFC

    Dr. Fred Gingrich has joined the staff of Toccoa Falls College as the director of the college’s new master of arts in marriage and family therapy program which launches this fall.     Gingrich has served educational institutions in Canada, the Philippines and the United States.
