New players but same goal for the Stephens County girls' basketball team

The defending Region 8-AAA champions will be back on the court when they start their season with a scrimmage today (Thursday, Nov. 11) against Towns County at Currahee Arena.       The Lady Indians will have their first game of the season on the road against Union County at 2:30 p.m.

Sanders claims region runner-up with state bound Indians

The second fastest runner in Region 8-AAA is home of the Stephens County Cross Country team. Indian runner Grady Sanders turned in a time of 17:24.50 to claim a runner-up finish in the Region 8-AAA meet on October 27 in Carnesville.

Stephens County drops close battle with Oconee County in region match

Last Friday Stephens County faced powerhouse Oconee County. The Indians had a tall task facing the Warriors who played for a state championship for the last three years and was last year’s state runner-up. A two-possession score was the difference between SCHS and Goliath.

Play resumes Friday night for the Stephens County football Indians when they travel to Hart County for a Region 8-AAA matchup with the Bulldogs.                         Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. in Herndon Stadium.

Stephens County Volleyball back in the playoffs with win over Franklin County

For the second consecutive year the Stephens County Lady Indian  volleyball team is back in the state playoffs.                          The Lady Indians clinched the playoffs when they won their Region 8-AAA play-in game against Franklin County here last Thursday.

Stephens County Middle School football eliminated from first round of playoffs

The undefeated Madison County Middle School Mustangs eliminated the Stephens County Middle School Rebels from the conference playoffs by posting a  30-7 win last Thursday in Danielsville.

Stephens County gets revenge over Franklin County in 37-0 region blowout

 The Stephens County Indians avenged 2020’s heartbreaking loss to Franklin County with a 37-0 whitewash of the Lions here last Friday. In the 2020 game in Carnesville, the Indians gave up eight points in the last minute of play including a touchdown on the last play of the game to lose to the Lions.
