Burke County ends Stephens County playoff run in the second round 41-24

The Stephens County Indians football playoff ended last Friday at the hands of Burke County in Waynesboro.     The Bears defeated the Indians 41-24 in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs. It was a competitive game, but the Bears’ execution of its option offensive attack put the Tribe away.

No. 4 seed Stephens County takes down No. 1 seed Rockmart in first round

For the first time since 2014 the Stephens County football team is headed to the second round of the playoffs. The No. 4 seed Indians accomplished that feat when they knock off No. 1 seed and Region 6-AAA champion Rockmart, 27-13 on the road last Friday in the first round of the playoffs.

Sanders claims region runner-up with state bound Indians

The second fastest runner in Region 8-AAA is home of the Stephens County Cross Country team. Indian runner Grady Sanders turned in a time of 17:24.50 to claim a runner-up finish in the Region 8-AAA meet on October 27 in Carnesville.

Stephens County drops close battle with Oconee County in region match

Last Friday Stephens County faced powerhouse Oconee County. The Indians had a tall task facing the Warriors who played for a state championship for the last three years and was last year’s state runner-up. A two-possession score was the difference between SCHS and Goliath.
