No. 5 Jefferson beats Stephens County

 Stephens County Indian basketball faced top 5-ranked Jefferson High School from  Class AAAA last week.    The Indians fell short of beating the Dragons and lost 63-52 on Nov. 30 in Toccoa.        Last week’s game against Jefferson was the second time the two foes have met this season.

Stephens County graduate golfer Abby Akin makes a change

After Stephens County High School graduate Abby Akin wrapped up her freshman year as part of Brenau University’s golf program, Akin decided it was time for a change. She decided to change schools in order to pursue a new major and play golf for Truett McConnell University’s golf program.

Stephens County Boys' basketball falls in Truett McConnell Eastbay Showcase

   The Stephens County Indian boys basketball team competed in the Truett McConnell Eastbay Showcase last Saturday at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland.        The Indians fell short in the showcase when they absorbed a 61-52 loss to Model at Benjamin F. Brady Arena.

Stephens County Girls Basketball drops home opener to Tallulah Falls 66-50

The Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team hosted Tallulah Falls School for their season home opener last week and experienced their first home loss of the new year.      TFS bested the Lady Indians 66-50 on Nov. 16 in Toccoa.

Stephens County Boys' basketball drops season opener to Tallulah Falls 58-49

Stephens County Boys’ basketball dropped their season opener to Tallulah Falls. The Indians were defeated by TFS 58-49 on October 16 in Toccoa. SCHS head coach said that turnovers played a big part in the loss.

Burke County ends Stephens County playoff run in the second round 41-24

The Stephens County Indians football playoff ended last Friday at the hands of Burke County in Waynesboro.     The Bears defeated the Indians 41-24 in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs. It was a competitive game, but the Bears’ execution of its option offensive attack put the Tribe away.

Stephens County Girls' basketball late run leads to scrimmage win against Towns

The Stephens County Girls’ basketball team made things a little bit exciting in their tune-up scrimmage game last Thursday in Toccoa.  In their scrimmage the Lady Indians had an exciting ending.

No. 4 seed Stephens County takes down No. 1 seed Rockmart in first round

For the first time since 2014 the Stephens County football team is headed to the second round of the playoffs. The No. 4 seed Indians accomplished that feat when they knock off No. 1 seed and Region 6-AAA champion Rockmart, 27-13 on the road last Friday in the first round of the playoffs.

Stephens County competition cheer win Region 8-AAA championship

It was dead silence this past Saturday at Morgan County’s gym. A gym full of teams and spectators were waiting for the announcement of this year’s Region 8-AAA champion. This year it was the Stephens County competition cheer team celebrating the announcement of the Region 8-AAA champion.

Stephens County Boys' basketball open with scrimmage win against Towns County

The Stephens County boys’ basketball team started off the season with a scrimmage win against Towns County in a dominate way. The Indians blew out TCHS 74-53 last Thursday in Toccoa. “It feels good,” SCHS head coach Jeremy Hughes said.
