Lady Indians drop one to No. 1 rank Elbert County on the road

    It seemed like it was going to be a tightly contested game between the Stephens County Lady Indians and the top-ranked team in Class AA Elbert County.      The game was scoreless the first two  minutes of the matchup played last week at The Inferno in Elberton.

Stephens County seventh grade girls drops one to Franklin County

 The Stephens County Middle school seventh grade girls basketball team had a competitive game going against Franklin County here last Thursday.     However, the visitors deployed  an effective full court press down the stretch and the Lady Cubs ended up putting the Lady Rebels away 30-15.

Stephens County wrestling off to a 2-0 start to open the season

  The Stephens County Indian wrestling has raced to a 2-0 start this season.       The Indians won their first match of the 2021-2022 season by defeating White County and triumphed in their most recent match over Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School 66-16 on Wednesday, Dec 1 in Toccoa.

No. 5 Jefferson beats Stephens County

 Stephens County Indian basketball faced top 5-ranked Jefferson High School from  Class AAAA last week.    The Indians fell short of beating the Dragons and lost 63-52 on Nov. 30 in Toccoa.        Last week’s game against Jefferson was the second time the two foes have met this season.

Stephens County graduate golfer Abby Akin makes a change

After Stephens County High School graduate Abby Akin wrapped up her freshman year as part of Brenau University’s golf program, Akin decided it was time for a change. She decided to change schools in order to pursue a new major and play golf for Truett McConnell University’s golf program.
