Stephens County Girls' basketball on an eight game region losing streak

The Oconee County Lady Warriors defeated the Stephens County Lady Indians 46-25 here Tuesday, Feb. 1.       It was the seventh consecutive region loss for the Lady Indians.      “We never gave up,” Stephens head coach Laura Baker said.

Stephens County Boys' basketball falls to Franklin County in second meeting

Earlier this season the Stephens County Indians basketball team faced Franklin County in a region game and the rivalry showdown was decided by the last shot.      In a rematch last Friday in Carnesville, it wasn’t that close as the Lions raced to a 58-45 conquest of the Indians.

Stephens County Girls' basketball on eight game losing streak after falling to East Jackson and Franklin County

 The Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team lost a pair of games last week to extend their current losing streak to eight games.      The Lady Indians were beaten 54-44 by East Jackson there on Wednesday, Jan. 19, and fell 60-32 to Franklin County in Carnesville on Friday night.

Stephens County Wrestling lose in landslide to Habersham Central 58-22

     The Stephens County Indian wrestling team absorbed a 58-22 loss by Habersham Central here Thursday, Jan. 20.    Recording victories for the Tribe were Raven Wilson, Tyler Fulbright and Blake Yaworski.       Yaworksi dominated his Habersham opponent in the 113-pound weight class match.

 Missed shots coupled with other missed opportunities led to a Region 8-AAA loss for Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team here last week  when they faced Hart County at Currahee Arena.     The Lady Indians missed multiple shots under the rim going against the Lady Bulldogs.
