Lady Indian Second half surge leads to extra time region win against Monroe

The Stephens County Lady Indians soccer team scored five goals in the second half to defeat Monroe Area 5-4 in extra time last Friday in Monroe. The second half surge led the Lady Indians to their second Region 8-AAA victory of the season.

The effort was there but the Stephens County Indian soccer team stiff fell 4-2 to Monroe Area there Friday.                         The loss was the second of the season in as many outings  for the Indians in Region 8-AAA competition.

Stephens County tennis teams earn region wins

    The Stephens County Indian tennis teams picked up their first Region 8-AAA victories of the season last week.                         On Tuesday, March 2, the Indian teams defeated East Jackson 5-0 (girls) and 4-1 (boys).

   The Stephens County baseball Indians avenged an earlier diamond loss to Gainesville with a 5-3 triumph over the Red Elephants in a game played here on Wednesday, March 3.                         “We played them earlier in the season and they got us,” SCHS head coach Greg McCall said.

Stephens County Girls Basketball advance to Elite 8 round

For the first time since 1989, the Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team won a second-round state tournament game here last Friday.                         The Lady Indians accomplished that feat by defeating visiting Coahulla Creek 66-50 at Currahee Arena.
