 With most of her competition towering over her and standing only 5-3, Lindsay Moore was always told she would never play college basketball.                          Last Friday Moore proved the naysayers wrong when she signed to play college basketball with Agnes Scott College in Decatur.

The Magnificent seven end Lady Indian careers

   The magnificent ride has finally come to an end for seven Stephens County Lady Indian  basketball players.                          For Brooklyn Steeple, Kiki Howard, Ranajah Verdell, Savana Broska, Lindsay Moore, Nana Eades and Bre Taylor hardcourt time together started about a decade ago.

    The Stephens County Indian tennis teams picked up their first Region 8-AAA victories of the season last week.                         On Tuesday, March 2, the Indian teams defeated East Jackson 5-0 (girls) and 4-1 (boys).

   The Stephens County baseball Indians avenged an earlier diamond loss to Gainesville with a 5-3 triumph over the Red Elephants in a game played here on Wednesday, March 3.                         “We played them earlier in the season and they got us,” SCHS head coach Greg McCall said.

    Stephens County Indian football player Jahari Burns has come a long way.                          When Burns was a freshman, he said he was kind of timid on the football field and scared to go up against players that were older and bigger than him.

Stephens County Girls Basketball advance to Elite 8 round

For the first time since 1989, the Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team won a second-round state tournament game here last Friday.                         The Lady Indians accomplished that feat by defeating visiting Coahulla Creek 66-50 at Currahee Arena.

Stephens County cheer finishes in top 10

The 2020-2021 SCHS Competition Cheerleading has come to an end with a trip to the State Cheer Finals for the Lady Indians.  The season began virtually in March 2020 and the girls were able to finally meet in person in June and were able to Stunt together in July.
