To celebrate the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day, there are two activities happening the first weekend of June in Toccoa to commemorate the occasion.

Congratulations to Toccoa Elementary School Young Georgia Authors. These students were celebrated in March with a luncheon and presented with a book this week about writing. They wrote wonderful stories and represented our school well.

Indians track teams compete in regional meet

By Laura Shaw Staff Writer   This week, the Indians’ track teams competed in the region meet on Monday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 24 in Franklin County. The meet had five athletes qualify for sectionals and two more athletes with top 10 finishes in their events.

Toast of Toccoa festival postponed

   Food, beer, wine, arts, and entertainment will be part of Toccoa’s annual event this weekend, Toast of Toccoa.    This year’s festival is the seventh annual for the city, and last year’s event brought about 5,000 people to the downtown area.

Peach State Federal Credit Union donates to Neighbors 4 Neighbors

   Neighbors 4 Neighbors recently received a $1,000 donation from Peach State Federal Credit Union’s C.A.R.E.S. Foundation. N4N is a non-profit food pantry for Stephens County with a mission “to nourish all who come through our doors, those in need and those who serve.

SCHS recognizes Top 5

     Stephens County High School (SCHS) has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2024 and recognized the Rotary Club of Toccoa’s’ Top 5 students.    Valedictorian Garvin Robinson and Salutatorian Sailor Ott were also two of the senior class’ Top 5.
