     Wednesday, Sept. 27,  was proclaimed Charles Head Day in the Georgia State Legislature.     State Rep. Alan Powell from the 33rd district drafted the resolution.     Head, of Toccoa,  was honored for his over half-decade of broadcasting, writing, and race announcing throughout the southeast.

Library hires new manager

    Justin Haynes started Monday at his new job as manager of the Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library.      It’s his third gig managing a library in the northeast Georgia area.     The first two were for the public library in Cornelia and after that, the public library in Helen.

2023 Curraheee Military Weekend

     Currahee Military Weekend will kick off with a repeat showing of the film, The Girl Who Wore Freedom on Thursday, Oct. 5.      Three shows are planned – at 10 a.m. for home school students, private  and public  schools and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the general public. Cost is $10 per ticket.

TFC pianist to performance in Cleveland this weekend

    Pianist You Ju Lee will present a one-hour concert Sunday, Sept. 17, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cleveland beginning at 2 p.m.      The church is located at 4114 Highway 115 East.      An offering will be received with proceeds going to the Toccoa Falls College Music Department piano fund.

     Toccoa Falls College has launched its search for the next Future Scholar.       Each year, TFC hosts a two-day event where students who exhibit excellence academically, socially, and spiritually, can compete for a four-year, full-ride scholarship.      Registration opened on Sept.

       Stephens County elections supervisor Bruce Carlisle has been assigned a position to the state board of corrections.      The board’s 19 members are appointed by the governor, with state senate consent, and serve staggered five year terms.
