Tennis victorious over Franklin Co.

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Both Stephens County tennis teams rolled to key region victories over rival Franklin County here last week.   The Indian boys snapped a three-match losing skid with a narrow 3-2 victory while the Lady Indians blanked the visitors 5-0.

Tennis has mixed results

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Stephens County tennis teams played three matches last week with mixed results.   On Tuesday, Feb. 24,  Stephens hosted region 8-AAA opponent West Hall Spartans.  The Lady Indians and Indians teams won 8 of 10 matches in the afternoon contest.

Baseball blanks Lakeside-Evans

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Powered by strong starting pitching and a pair of defensive gems, the Stephens County Indians run-ruled visiting Lakeside-Evans 11-0 in five innings here last Friday and improved their record to 6-4 for the season.

Tukes sets school record at Currahee Relays meet

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORDMekelliya Tukes set another school record during the 3rd Annual Currahee Relays staged here Saturday.She broke her own senior girls record in the 300 meter hurdles as she established a new  record mark of 53.5 seconds.

Tennis gets rained out

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Rain played havoc with the Stephens County Indians’ 2026 tennis schedule as two matches were rained out and rescheduled.   Matches against Franklin County and Hebron Christian were postponed due to rain meaning the only match Stephens played last week came Tuesday, Feb.

Track competes in Dacula

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    Stephens County High School track team members competed with 800 other athletes in the DAC Sprinters Cup staged in Dacula last Thursday.   “This was one of the biggest meets in the state,” SCHS coach Gordon Thigpen said.

Even for the season

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   The Stephens County Indian baseball team stands at .500 for the season as they continue its challenging stretch of non-region contests.   The Indians are 4-4 thus far after winning one game last week.   Stephens lost 6-5 to AAAAA Habersham Central there on Tuesday, Feb.

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   Stephens County’s tennis teams swept a pair of matches from Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (BASA)  on the Indians home courts Friday, Feb. 20.
