Five SCHS wrestlers headed to sectional

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD      Five Stephens County wrestlers have qualified for the sectional tournament scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7 at East Jackson High School.  They are Garrett Krous (150), Carter Fowler (157), Donavin Turner (132), Malachi Williamson (215) and Lucas Kinsey (285).

Indians basketball faces heartbreak in three games

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    The Stephens County Indians lost a trio of games last week including two where they trailed by a single point at halftime.  Stephens fell 75-41 there to Hebron Christian on Jan. 20, lost 70-62 to Washington-Wilkes here Wednesday, Jan.

Lady Indians cagers drop two

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   The Stephens County Lady Indians dropped a pair of Region 8-AA road basketball games last week.  Stephens lost 74-13 to No. 1-ranked Hebron Christian in Dacula on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and then absorbed a 60-32 loss to Hart County there on Friday night.

Tennessee lands Gordon

SCMS Lady Rebels basketball caps season with two victories

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD   The Stephens County Middle School girls basketball teams closed the regular season with a pair of victories last week.  The seventh grade Lady Rebels defeated Rabun County 35-27  and followed that win with a 36-20 triumph over Hart County.

BY TOM LAWTHE TOCCOA RECORD    The Stephens County Indians erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit against East Jackson County here last Friday night to force overtime and then seized control in the extra period to win 69-63 over the Eagles in a Region 8-AA basketball game.
