The Stephens County basketball Indians dropped a 63-53 decision to rival Franklin County last week to drop to 0-2 on the young season. Indian coach Jeremy Hughes questioned his team’s effort in the loss. “I really think it’s the effort,” Hughes said.

Stephens County football ends season 1-9 after St. Pius loss at the Reservation

The Stephens County football season ended here last Friday night with an extension of an almost season-long Indian losing streak. St. Pius extended the Indians’ losing streak to nine games when they defeated the Tribe 42-21 at The Reservation finishing the Indian season with a 1-9 mark.

The Stephens County Indian football team came close to snapping a seven-game losing streak when they faced Region 8-AAAA foe Madison County last Friday in Danielsville. But close wasn’t good enough.

Stephens County High School, a long-time resident of Region 8-AAA, will return to its roots in 2020 following reclassification by he Georgia High School Athletic Association (GHSA). The GHSA released reclassification for 2020-2022 on Tuesday.

The Stephens County football team is now in a seven game losing streak. The Indians loss their seventh straight game of the season from the hands of North Oconee last Friday 42-10 in a Region 8-AAAA match at The Reservation.
