Stephens County eighth grade winning streak extends to 10 games

The quest for a perfect season is still going for the Stephens County seventh grade basketball team. The Rebels picked up their ninth win against Rabun County and their 10th win over Franklin County. The Rebels defeated Rabun County Jan.

Two three point shots in the final minute stun the Stephens County crowd when the eighth grade Rebels was dealt a heart breaking 40-39 loss from Rabun County on Jan. 16 in Toccoa. In a game that seemed like the Rebels was going to have the game in the bag two possessions changed that outcome.

Stephens County Boy's Basketball drop four straight Region 8-AAAA matches

After dropping two straight Region 8-AAAA matches the Stephens County basketball team was looking to pick things up in region play when they faced North Oconee. The Indians nearly did that but came up five points shy in a 58-53 loss to the Titans on Jan. 14 in Bogart.

 More than halfway through the region portion of their schedule, the Stephens County Lady Indians sit atop the Region 8-AAAA standings.

Stephens County eighth grade blows out Elbert County 45-20

There was some concern from Stephens County eighth grade coach Blake Adams when he and his team hosted Elbert County Jan. 9 in Toccoa. The Rebels just came back from a long winter break and have not played a game in over three weeks along with just two days of practice since their previous game.

Seventh Grade rebels remains undefeated with an 8-0 winning streak

Still losing is something unfamiliar this season for the Stephens County seventh grade basketball team. With their winning streak continuing to grow experiencing a loss this season is still something foreign and is something they cannot relate to when playing other teams.

Oconee County hands Stephens County Region 8-AAAA loss

Looking to bounce back from a Region 8-AAAA loss to St. Pius earlier this season the Stephens County Boys’ Basketball team went on the road and was dealt another region loss. The Indians visited Oconee County on Jan. 10 and ended up falling short 62-56 in Watkinsville.

After winning their first two Region 8-AAAA games of the season the Stephens County Girls’ Basketball team was handed their first region loss of the season by the hands of Oconee County. On Jan. 10 the Lady Indians went on the road and absorbed a 43-37 loss in Watkinsville.

Sonny Spurlock resigns as offensive Coordinator for SCHS

  After two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Stephens County  Indians, Sonny Spurlock resigned his coaching position recently.      Spurlock joined the program in the spring of 2018.
