Stephens County softball lands No. 3 seed after region tournament

Not enough hits landed the Stephens County softball team a No. 3 seed in the Class AAAA state playoffs. The Lady Indians won their first game in the Region 8-AAAA tournament defeating Oconee County 4-3 then dropped a game to Madison County 9-1 in their following game.

Liz Adams and Lydia Cornelius have been part of the Stephens County high school volleyball program since they were in eighth grade. Adams and Cornelius were allowed to be part of the junior varsity team due to the fact there was no volleyball programs offered for middle school players in the county.

Stephens County Middle School football had a lot to celebrate when they gave Franklin County Middle School a 51-0 pounding on Set. 26 at the Reservation. The blowout homecoming win was the Rebels sixth homecoming win in a row that featured something historic.

 The Stephens County Indian football team experienced something not seen since the autumn of 1996 last Friday night in Mt. Airy.      That’s when the Raiders snapped what had been a more than two-decade winning streak by the Indians as Habersham Central prevailed 27-21.

Ninth grade Stephens County defeats undefeated Winder-Barrow

   Stephens County’s ninth grade football team had its chance to shine when the Indians played an undefeated Winder-Barrow team last Thursday in Toccoa.      At the end of the game the Bulldogs were not undefeated as SCHS ended their winning streak by trouncing Winder 36-8 at The Reservation.

Stephens County volleyball beats Rabun County

 The third time was the charm for the Stephens County volleyball team on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Toccoa.      The Lady Indians had faced Rabun County two times earlier this season and both matches between the two resulted in a  SCHS defeat.
