Matt Moore’s football career has been one of transitions and last week he signed to undertake another change.

A good start and a good finish could lead to a win. The Stephens County Girls’ basketball team had one of the two when they faced Oconee County in a Region 8-AAA match up.

 The Stephens County Indian basketball team faced a sharpshooting Oconee County Warrior club in a Region 8-AAA matchup in Watkinsville last Friday night.

The Stephens County Lady Indians were dealt a 61-28 loss by Franklin County at Currahee Arena here Friday night in the Region 8-AAA opener.

   Stephens County High School graduate and long-time youth coach Todd Mayfield made the list of the top 100 Elite Club coaches in the nation as selected by Extra Inning Softball. 

 The Stephens County Indians opened the region portion of the 2021-2022 basketball season with a two-point loss to Franklin County here last Friday night.

     The first high school basketball teams of the combined Toccoa High and Stephens County High schools will hold a 50th reunion on Saturday, Jan. 9.

   The Stephens County girls basketball team snapped a 12-game losing streak here last week with a victory over T.L. Hanna of Anderson, S.C.

Stephens County Indian football players continue to receive statewide recognition for their play in the 2021 season.

After suffering through a lengthy losing period to open the 2021-2022 basketball season, the Stephens County Indians now boast a three-game winning streak.
