Coroner’s office getting new building
A fire broke out Friday night, March 20, at a warehouse building on the water treatment plant campus in Toccoa. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to City Manager Fredda Wheeler.

Grant honored with state award
It was Opening Day for the Toccoa Little League on Saturday, March 14. The day kicked off with a parade on Doyle Street. The Riverdogs softball team led the rest of the Toccoa Little League baseball and softball teams down Doyle Street Saturday morning during opening day events.

On Tuesday night, March 17, the Stephens County Board of Education honored the high school’s two STAR students and teachers.The STAR students are Logan Shirley and Landon Powell, while the STAR teachers are Kasey Ivey and Lynne Fisher. Shirley and Powell got the same SAT score. They were joined by, from left to right, Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen, superintendent Connie Franklin, and Board of Education chair Tripp Arrowood.
