Congressman Andrew Clyde visits Osborne Wood Products

Osborne Wood Products Inc. was included in 9th District Congressman Andrew Clyde’s visit to Toccoa- Stephens County on Friday, Feb. 19.      The visit was coordinated by the Stephens County Development Authority and Clyde spent the day meeting with individuals in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Kindergarten registration for Stephens County will be held Thursday and Friday, March 11-12.      Registration will be held from 3:30-6 p.m. on Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.      Registration on these dates will be held at Big A Elementary.

North Georgia Technical College plans for Ivester Center

North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) in Clarkesville is working to turn one of former president Mark Ivester’s longtime dreams into reality, while honoring his legacy in the process.      The overall project is expected to cost around $5.

Students at Big A Elementary School participated in the Great Kindness Challenge last month.      The challenge, as described on the Great Kindness Challenge website, is an initiative to prevent bullying in schools.

    County commissioners recently considered changes to the county's election board appointments.     After discussions in a planning meeting held last Thursday, the board decided to assess how other counties in the state deal with election office practices.

BOE moves forward on school projects

    School building improvements totaling some $6.07 million were approved last week by the Stephens County Board of Education.     The projects consist of flooring, painting, roofing, and heating and air conditioning systems.

    Animal control calls this month have been non-stop to the Stephens County Marshal's Office, said chief marshal Tony Addison.

By Beau Evans Staff Writer Capitol Beat News Service Teachers, school staff and certain other vulnerable groups in Georgia will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting on March 8, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday.
