    During the month of August, the Toccoa Stephens County Public Library will host a new exhibition from the National Archives.     Entitled Rightfully Hers, the exhibit commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.

By Thad Glenn    The Georgia Department of Agriculture has been notified that several Georgia residents have received unsolicited packages containing seeds that appear to have originated from China.     Recipients are strongly advised not to open the packages or plant the seeds.

    Cpl. Michael Vice did not anticipate he would become a K-9 handler after starting as a jailer with the Stephens County Sheriff's Office in late 2018.     Vice is the handler of the sheriff's office newest K-9 officer, Dexter, a Dutch Shepherd.

    Three suspects were arrested during a traffic stop earlier this month after Sheriff's Office K-9 officer Dexter indicated the presence of what turned out to be more than a half kilogram of methamphetamine.

TOCCOA, GA ~ The City of Toccoa will be closing a section of Falls Road for repairs.   The work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 3rd at 5 a.m. and continue through Friday, August 7th depending on weather conditions.
