KTSCB scrap tire event planned

    Stephens County, along with Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful will host a scrap tire roundup at the Stephens County Public Works Department located at 1597 Scenic Drive between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Harvest festival weekend ahead

    The 43rd annual Toccoa Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26-27 in downtown Toccoa.     More than 140 craft and food booths will be set up on Doyle Street from Alexander Street to Hill Street.     The festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m.

Garage fire on Oct. 18

Firefighters from the City of Toccoa and Carnes Creek Volunteer Fire Department faced a heavily involved garage fire at 2:40 a.m.  Friday morning, Oct. 18 on Collins Road. The building was destroyed, but no one was injured,  Toccoa assistant fire chief Frankie Dietz said.

    Retirees from the National Guard units in Toccoa, Lavonia and Hartwell, held a 20th anniversary celebration dinner Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Toccoa National Guard Armory.

Christmas parade submissions being accepted

    The 2019 Toccoa Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. in downtown Toccoa.     Theme for this year’s parade will be The Real Meaning of Christmas.     The parade is sponsored by the Toccoa Woman’s Club and its members are encouraging all businesses and churches to participate.

NGTC schedules annual bridge party

    The North Georgia Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees is planning the 17th annual bridge party in memory of former trustee Marvin Scobee.     The party is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Currahee Campus of NGTC located in Avalon.

    Toccoa First United Methodist Church will welcome the Crosby Lane duo in concert on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.     Based in Nashville, Tenn., the husband/wife duo of John and Michaela Lemonis specializes in a “delta folk” approach to Christian music, a melding of their respective backgrounds.
