Heritage Trail receives TrailBlazer award

     On Tuesday, May 18, the new Georgia World War II Heritage Trail was presented with a TravelBlazers Award by the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (GACVB) at their annual conference in Savannah.     The trail includes the Currahee Military Museum in Toccoa.

By Michael Hall The Hartwell Sun     Opening a mission hospital in Haiti while operating out of Northeast Georgia was never going to be easy.

    It wasn't a UFO, but Stephens County residents may have seen an unusual flying object if they looked into the northeast Georgia skies last week.     That object, said Toccoa-Stephens County Airport manager Amber McCall, was a vintage Douglas DC-3 airplace.

Stephens County adds two to COVID-19 death toll

                Two people have died of COVID-19 related illnesses at Stephens County Hospital in the last seven days, according to hospital CEO Mike Hester.                   Those are the first two COVID deaths at the local hospital since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
