Stephens County Middle School football falls to Elbert County on the final play

It was a long wait before the game’s first score when the Stephens County Middle School football team played against Elbert County. The game did not see a score nearly the whole entire game. Both teams did not score throughout three quarters.

Stephens County defeats Flowery Branch 27-11

The Stephens County football team took down Class 5 A opponent Flowery Branch in a 27-11 win last Friday at The Reservation. The Indians had a challenge against a program who previously defeated St. Pius the previous week.

 The Stephens County Indian football team came up short of pulling off a victory over traditionally strong Rabun County losing 14-7 in a weather-delayed game played in Tiger last Friday night.

 The Stephens County Lady Indian volleyball team dominated in a tri-match sweep against Lake Oconee and Commerce here last week.      The Lady Indians defeated Lake Oconee 2-0 (25-18, 25-15) and Commerce 2-0 (25-14, 25-5) in a tri-match played at Currahee Arena.

Stephens County Middle School football falls in season opener to Franklin County

“Well definitely it did not go as we wanted or as we expected,” Rebel head coach Matt Miller said after the game.       “We have got a lot to work on. We have a very young team. They are going to have to grow up pretty quick if we’re going to maintain the standard that we have here,” Miller said.

Stephens County wins Battle of Currahee Mountain 14-3 in season opener

The Stephens County Indians experienced a slow start but eventually prevailed 14-3 over Habersham Central in the 2022 season opener for both teams played here last Friday.      “It feels great,” SCHS head coach Wesley Tankersley said about winning the traditional Battle of Currahee Mountain.

Football season is here and the first test for the Stephens County football team is rival Habersham Central. The Indians play the Raiders tomorrow (August 19) to open the season in the Battle of Currahee Mountain played at The Reservation.

50th season for Stephens County Middle School Football begins with Franklin County

   The Stephens County Middle School football team will open the school’s 50th gridiron season today (Thursday, Aug. 18) at 5:30 p.m. when the Rebels face Franklin County at The Reservation.        “We’re very excited,” SCMS head coach Matt Miller said about the start of the 2022 season.

Rally falls short for Stephens County softball against Elbert County in 4-3 final

    A late Stephens County Lady Indian rally in the bottom of the seventh inning here against Elbert County fell a run short of tying the game and sending it into extra innings.      Because the rally fell short, the Lady Indians absorbed a 4-3 defeat.
