Stephens County football starts off with Habersham Central

The Stephens County Indians will open the 2022 football season here Friday, Aug. 19, against rival Habersham Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Reservation. The Indians will enter the game after a 21-0 victory over Fannin County in a scrimmage game played last week in Blue Ridge.

Stephens County softball wins season opener against Rabun County in run rule win

 The Stephens County Lady Indian softball team opened the 2022 season with a 12-3, run-rule triumph over Rabun County here Monday.      SCHS head coach David Poffenberger said he was glad to see the season-opening victory.

  The Stephens County Indians struggled early against Elbert County in the first pre-season scrimmage here last Friday as the Blue Devils built a 28-7 lead at halftime.

Toccoa 11 Under All-Stars eliminated from District 7 play

The Toccoa 11-under all-star baseball team’s District 7 run came to an end after a loss to Hart County in Lavonia.     Toccoa was eliminated in the double elimination tournament 29-0 against Hart County last week in Lavonia.

Toccoa 10-Under All-Stars take District 7 crown 7-4 against Franklin County

The Toccoa 10-under all-star baseball team escaped a last-inning bases-loaded jam to win the District 7 championship last week.       Toccoa faced a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the last inning with a three-run lead against Franklin County in a game played at Lavonia.
