Stephens County Boy's Basketball looking to improve for upcoming season

  The Stephens County Indians basketball team wants to build on to lessons learned last season.      The construction project for 2020-2021 begins Saturday (Nov. 21) that starts this Saturday when they play Richmond Academy at 4:30 p.m. in Evans.

Stephens County Girl's Basketball stacked with seven seniors for 2020 season

Stephens County Lady Indian basketball coach Laura Baker has seven seniors returning for the 2020-2021 campaign which opens Saturday at 3 p.m. against Butler High School. The game will be played in Evans.

  It has come full circle for Stephens County high school athletic director Chuck King.     Before he joined SCHS in July as the school’s new athletic director, he used to take frequent trips to SCHS for work.

Laney McGee named Co-Player of the year for Region 8-AAA

    Stephens County Lady Indian softballer Laney McGee was crowned one of the queens of Region 8-AAA last week.      McGee and Franklin County’s Sarah York both share the throne as Co-Player of the year for Region 8-AAA softball.

Selina Slate brings experience to Stephens County Volleyball program

      Long-time Toccoa Falls College volleyball coach Selina Slate didn’t stay out of coaching for very long.                         After retiring as coach for 24 years at TFC last fall, Slate jumped back into the coaching ranks at the beginning of the 2020 season only this time at a lower level.

 A late Habersham field goal ended Stephens County Middle School’s quest for a second straight conference championship here Monday.                         Earlier this season, the Rebels won the middle school verson of the Battle of Currahee Mountain against Habersham.

Stephens County Middle heads to third consecutive title game

The Stephens County Middle School football team is headed to their third straight Northeast Georgia Interscholastic Athletic Association championship game.         The Rebels accomplished the feat when they defeated Rabun County 12-7 Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Toccoa.

Stephens County softball lands a No. 4 seed spot in playoffs

 A series of costly errors led Stephens County Lady Indian softball to a No. 4 spot in Region 8-AAA entering the first round of the state playoffs.      That means the Lady Indians will play a No. 1 seed in the first round.
