Stephens County drops region-opener to Monroe Area 41-21

The Stephens County Indian football failed its first Region 8-AAA test of the season as they absorbed a 41-21 defeat last Friday against Monroe Area in Monroe.

 The Stephens County Lady Indian volleyball team enjoyed their 2020 Senior Night with a split of two matches.                          The Lady Indians defeated East Hall (25-13, 25-21) but dropped their match to Madison County (25-23, 25-21) last Thursday at Currahee Arena.

After losing the Battle of Currahee Mountain for the first time since 1996 last season, the Stephens County football team restored order in the rivalry. Stephens County got vengeance when they won the Battle of Currahee Mountain against Habersham Central 27-12 last Friday at the Reservation.

Stephens County Middle reaches win 225 in school history over Franklin County

Win 225 was reached last Wednesday for Stephens County Middle School. According to SCMS head Coach Matt Miller the Rebels won their 225th game in program history when they defeated Franklin County 34-20 at the Reservation.

Stephens County volleyball splits tri-match with Franklin and East Jackson

The Stephens County volleyball team picked up a win and dropped a game in a Region 8-AAA tri-match with Franklin County and East Jackson. The Lady Indians beat the Lady Lions in straight sets (25-21, 25-12) on Sept. 22 in Commerce but dropped two sets to the Lady Eagles (25-9, 29-15) in the split.

COVID-19 cancels springs sports until further notice

 Covid-19 – the Coronavirus has dealt the sports world a massive blow in recent days.  For the first time since 1939, there will be no March Madness NCAA basketball tournament due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
