Stephens County volleyball splits tri-match with Franklin and East Jackson

The Stephens County volleyball team picked up a win and dropped a game in a Region 8-AAA tri-match with Franklin County and East Jackson. The Lady Indians beat the Lady Lions in straight sets (25-21, 25-12) on Sept. 22 in Commerce but dropped two sets to the Lady Eagles (25-9, 29-15) in the split.

Stephens County graduate Gary Walker wraps up career for Auburn football

Throughout the entire 2019 football season it didn’t hit Gary Walker.  Then, all of the sudden, “it” hit him hard. The “it” was the fact that Stephens County High School graduate and former Indian football standout Gary Walker had played his very last snap on the collegiate gridiron.

Stephens County baseball over powered by Jefferson in 15-2 loss

 The last baseball game before the season was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic did not go Stephens County’s way. Instead, Jefferson had its way with the Indians taking control of a 15-2 victory over the Tribe here last Friday.

Stephens County splits with Franklin County

The Stephens County Indians opened their Friday doubleheader with Franklin County on a strong note, but ended on a distinctly sour note in the nightcap.      The Indians won Game 1, 4-2 but got run-ruled 20-1 in Game 2.

Stephens County Basketball places eight on All-Region 8-AAAA team

Stephens County Basketball talent was shown this past season and the talent was recognized. The Basketball Tribe produced eight All-Region 8-AAAA players this season. Kenny Colwell was selected for the first team while Chris Sinclair and Tyrece Mackie got honorable mention from the boy’s squad.
