Stephens County girls Soccer falls in challenging match to Jefferson 6-0

The Stephens County Girls’ soccer team had an uphill battle when the faced a strong Jefferson program on Feb. 25 in Toccoa. The Lady Dragons showed their might when they took down the Tribe 6-0 at The Reservation.

Jefferson crushes Stephens County soccer 7-1

On Feb. 25 the Stephens County Soccer team host powerhouse Jefferson at The Reservation. The Indians showed early signs of an upset but the defending Region 8-AAA champs erased any hope of that and handed the Tribe a 7-1 loss in Toccoa.

A week ago last Saturday, Stephens County High School wrestler Athena Malek found herself being picked up in the arms of Indian assistant coach Leon Walker.      Both featured huge smiles easily seen by the thousands of wrestling fans in attendance at the Macon Centreplex.

Athena Malek wins state title for Stephens County

For the first time in 50 years Stephens County High School has produced an individual state champion in wrestling. And for the first time in school history, SCHS has an individual female state champion in wrestling.

Stephens County tennis open with wins over Lumpkin County

In the battle of Indians, it was the Stephens County Indians who got the best of the Lumpkin County Indians in tennis here last Thursday.       SCHS boys’ and girls’ tennis teams fashioned victories as the Indian boys triumphed 3-2 and the Lady Indians won by a 4-1 margin.

Stephens County Girls' Basketball bows out of the first round of the playoffs

 The playoff run was short lived for the Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team.       The Lady Indians qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2014, but were eliminated 65-56 by Gilmer County in a first round game played last Friday in Ellijay.

Stephens County wins first game of the season in the Battle of Currahee Mountain

Cole Snyder’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning, gave the Stephens County Indians their first baseball victory of the season here last Friday.      The Indians downed Habersham Central 5-4 at The Reservation to start the year 1-0.

High kicking Indianettes win state title

The Stephens County High School Indianettes dance team competed in the 2020 GHSA State Dance Invitational on Feb. 15 at Columbus State University. The Indianettes won the AAA/AAAA High Kick State Championship. They were undefeated in high kick this competition season.

Stephens County's Girls' Basketball head to playoffs as three seed

  The Stephens County Lady Indians will play Friday at 7 p.m. at Gilmer County in the first round of the state tournament.      That game comes courtesy of being the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AAAA. Gilmer is the No. 2 seed from Region 6-AAAA having lost to Northwest Whitfield in the region finals.
